New Playlist...Thanks Katrina! :)

If you haven't noticed (maybe you don't have sound on your computer), but I have another playlist. In the past two weeks I have had a playlist that goes with Halloween and then Thanksgiving. They were fun, but then my friend Katrina put a comment on facebook about an *N Sync and Nelly song and that's when the flashbacks began. It brought me back to my early college days when everything was easy (well almost everything) and I had my whole life ahead of me! I was always listening to music and loved every minute of it. There are still so many songs from that time that bring back great memories and moments of my life. I wouldn't exactly say 'Girlfriend' by *N Sync featuring Nelly was one of them, but it does take me back and I enjoy the beat.

The other two songs are songs that I enjoy at the moment. I can't help but get up and dance. If you haven't been able to tell from my last post about my playlist I love to dance. I love that Max will hear these songs (and others) and say, "Dance Mom. Dance" Then he takes my hands and he dances with me to my favorite songs. It brings a smile to my face every time! :)

I was never a real fan of Miley Cyrus, but I have to say I am really liking this new song of hers!

I hope you can all appreciate my new playlist. Go ahead, get up, and dance around the living room. Remeber "you can't dance and stay uptight"! :) Happy Dancing Everyone!!!

AaRgh...Happy Halloween Matey!

This year for Halloween I wanted our boys to be some sort of duo. I tried and tried to think of soemthing cute and creative like a red and yellow M&M, batman and robin, fireman and dalmation, I think you get the idea. I didn't want to spend any money on their costumes which sort of limited my choices. I was about at a breaking point when we received some hand me down clothes from Jake and Melissa (my brother and his wife). In the bag there were two pirate costumes that fit the boys. Nathan made the final decision that they would be matching pirates. I guess he got tired of me going back and forth and never making a final decision. The only problem is Max's pirate costume was a little tight and I didn't think they were going to be warm enough. Plus we didn't have any of the accessories: swords, hats, etc... So I ended up making them pirate costumes from the felt I had and the felt my mom brought up from her collection. I am so grateful that my parents could come and celebrate Halloween with us. It is alwasy more fun with family and my mom helped getting the costumes ready!

On Halloween morning Nathan and Max carved pumpkins. Or should I say Nathan carved a pumpkin and Max colored a pumpkin. He loves to color and he colored the whole pumpkin! Nathan's finished pumpkin or should I say Jack-o-Lantern. Isn't he so talented? :)
Our family picture at the trunk or treat. Our pirate boys and Nathan and I as a 50's couple.
Our cute little pirate boys. AaRgh MaTey!!
The costumes: I made the hats and sword. My mom brought the brown felt and we made the vests and pants. The stockings are pajamas and the sashes are my moms.Grandpa with his pirate grandsons. Garren with a crooked hat and mustache.

Garren and me. Isn't he such a cute little pirate!?
Max doing the cake walk. Garren won a cupcake on the first try. Max on the other hand had to walk around it about 20 times before his number was called. Which is probably why he is looking pretty uninterested, but he was a trooper and continued on until he got that cupcake!
Both boys near the end of the night. No we didn't draw a beard on Max, but thanks to the cupcake and candy he made one for himself.

Our car won best decorated car!! It was a JAWS car and we had the theme music to JAWS coming from our radio as well. We used the same idea two years ago, but we were in a different ward. Here is Garren getting eaten by JAWS (and if you notice his dad is the one feeding him to JAWS). Max wouldn't go near JAWS.
We had a great Halloween, but I have to say I'm glad it's over. I should probably start planning for next year so it won't have to be so last minute!

5k Run...yes really!

Our Relief Society running group had an awesome opportunity to particpate in a 5k. It was such a great experience and I learned three very valuble lessons.
1. No matter how hard you train, if you are throwing up the day before resulting in the loss of three pounds and have a fever you will not do as well as you expected.
2. Running when the sun is up = more sweat.
3. It's okay to stand up tall in pictures.
I have to say that I almost didn't make it to the 5k, but I was really glad I did even if I thought I was going to pass out right when I started. I look forward to doing it again, hopefully next time in good health. I am glad I trained for it though because I was able to run the whole thing even if I had to go slow.
The Relief Society Running Group that I'm part of meets at 5:45 am. At that time it is still dark and cool and so to run at 9 am on a hot day was quite a change.
I don't know what my deal was, but I could not seem to stand up straight in any of the pictures below. I'm going to blame it on my sickness. Since I was bed ridden the day before my muscles probably weren't strong enough to hold my body up. Yep, that's my excuse. But honestly what is with my posture. I will now be making a conscious effort to stand tall in all the pictures being taken of me!
This is a picture of our Relief Society Running Group, a few husbands, and a friend who ran the race with us.
No Patty and I do not have our arms around each other. I was trying to squeeze into the picture. Who knew we had so much room to move around? I guess Kyle did. lol
Patty and I after the race. YAY!! We did it.
Patty was nice enough to take a picture of our family with her 'digital' camera. It was so nice to have my husband and boys cheering me on at the last part of the race. Max was so excited to see his mom running and wanted to join me. Maybe when he gets a little older.
Thanks to the ladies that run and work out with me. I feel that we've developed a bond through our early mornings, scary experiences, funny stories, and let's not forget sweat!

Playing Catch Up

Our camera was mysteriously broken (Garren) and so for the boys birthdays we bought a disposable camera. We didn't want to miss any important moments, especially since it was Garren's first. The only problem is that you have to wait for them to be developed. I finally got a cd with the pictures today and thought I would post the pictures from the camera to share with you.

We start out with a few random pictures of pure cuteness. Max and Garren love to sit in Nathan's side of the closet. Max was reading Garren a 'book' which is actually a birthday card and I'm just glad I had a camera to capture the precious moment.
Max and Garren is matching dino pajamas. It's hard for me to believe Max used to fit into the ones Garren is wearing!
Max and Garren showing their Sesame Street pride. I thought it was so cute to have them both in matching yet different sweatshirts. Max is definitely our little cookie monster and Garren is our silly Elmo who's always giggling.
On to the birthdays. On Maxwell's birthday we went to Coldstone for his free ice cream. If you want to be able to do the same go to their website and join the Birthday club. It's great! Garren got some too. It was his first time having ice cream and I think he may just love it as much as all of us!
Max loved opening his presents. If you see the dinosaur in the background. Those are the originals from the boys birthday party. Max got to color these dinosaurs throughout the day and thought it was the coolest thing.
Max, Daddy, and Garren trying to blow out the candles on Maxwell's dinosaur cake.
I was quite proud of my dinosaur cake. I don't know that this camera gave the cake the justice it deserves, it doesn't help that the colors weren't as vibrant as I would have like them. It was fun to make, but to be honest the cake was terrible :( I needed a really dense cake so that it wouldn't fall apart and wouldn't be to crumbly when I frosted it. At least it looked cool and when Max saw it he said, "Wow, a dinosaur!" It always a plus when they can tell what it's supposed to be. :)
On Garren's birthday it was a beautiful day so we spent a lot of time outside.
Garren eating his birthday banana for breakfast. This boy loves bananas and Nathan thought since it was a special occasion he could have a whole one to himself.
Garren riding the train.
Garren wondering what the heck he's supposed to do. Max and Daddy had to help blow out the candle (and of course eat the cake too).
There were a few pictures that didn't turn out because we forgot to turn on the flash. Darn disposable, but we are just grateful we have pictures of these wonderful days.
